Northern weather and heating

I am going to visit my parents up north in a week, but i am only staying a few nights! Visiting the north in the fall is quite pretty; The leaves change, the grapes are in full bloom and the weather isn’t harshly chilly yet.

  • The problem is that it is much colder than I am used to as a southerner, however my parents are getting temperatures in the 50s just about everyday.

The temperature lingers all day long and creates some chilly evenings as well. It is scarce to get a evening in the 50s in my area. My fiance and I still rely on A/C throughout the day. I still wear a tank top and shorts outside. I know my mother bundles up in a robe in the day and then wears a sweatshirt and pants all day, and since my parents are northerners, they are hardcore about the cold. My parents never seem to turn on the heater. I get their point, once the heater goes on, they are easily using it until around may. They want to prolong it as much as they can. They don’t want to have 8 months of needing the heater. They really do need it though. I am prepared for a actually chilly trip at my parents house. I have packed pants and a sweatshirt that I plan to wear the whole time. I feel it is highly unlikely the gas fireplace will be fired up in my honor too. My parents will just hand me blankets and more layers if I am cold.
