Ever since my sister Ann told me how she had been saving money on her energy bill by installing a ceiling fan, I’d been thinking about getting a fan of my own for my cabin.
Well, she decided to get me one for Christmas after I mentioned it to her.
Earlier this year, my sibling Tom installed the fan for me, but I hadn’t used it because it was still much Winter. But last week, I finally used the fan after the weather warmed up outside. Ann explained that in order to see the most savings separate from sacrificing comfort, I should use the fan with my Heating and Air Conditioning unit. She advocated that I increase the temperature on my temperature control and use the fan as a way to circulate the cold air throughout the room. On the first night, I did what she advocated and was completely impressed with the results. I thought that I’d be hot since I increased my temperature control to 70 degrees and then used the fan all night. When I woke up the next afternoon, I realized that I slept like a baby and didn’t toss my blanket off. Typically, I would sleep with my temperature control set to 68, which was my ideal sleeping temperature. But with the ceiling fan, I can now make the adjustments going forward. Using the fan is a great idea because not only will it save me money on my energy bill, however it will also give my Heating and Air Conditioning unit a chop from working so hard. Plus, it could also extend the life of my Heating and Air Conditioning unit because it will have less wear and tear. If you don’t have a ceiling fan in your home, I propose that you install one.
