I’ve been reading that there is a shortage of Heating and Air Conditioning specialists, however it never impacted me until last week.
This has been something that has been circulating for over a year now, but I’ve never had an issue with getting service.
That’s why I believed it was only impacting larger markets. Well, I was wrong about that because I live in a smaller town. Last week, I needed my Heating & Air Conditioning unit inspected, so I called my Heating & Air Conditioning provider. And constantly, when I call for service, they have a worker out the next afternoon and sometimes even the same afternoon. Well, this time around, I was told that it would take 72 hours before an Heating and Air Conditioning worker can service my unit. After hearing that, I asked the representative from the Heating and Air Conditioning corporation about the long wait time. The rep then explained that they have a shortage of workers, and they are trying to keep up with the demand. She explained that the HVAC workers were working 14 or more hours because of all the service calls. And since my service was not an emergency, I’d have the longest delay. Thankfully, my unit was still working, and this was just respected maintenance for me. So, I told the representative that I was good, and I was willing to give up my spot for someone who needed it more. It’s the least I could do to help the situation of the Heating and Air Conditioning worker shortage. Not many people think about it, but the Heating and Air Conditioning workers are partly responsible for keeping our homes comfortable all year round. And I hope that my Heating and Air Conditioning provider can figure out something soon to help with the shortage of HVAC workers.
