Nothing worries me more, than when someone faints or gets hurt at my house.
I am consistently afraid of being sued. I had once had someone in my attic installing insulation. He got up there, and I told him the ductwork had a few rough edges, and he had to be careful. He just ended up bumping his head on the ductwork, which caused him to fall backward, and he fell between boards, ending up going through the ceiling and landing on his back. I called the ambulance and then called the insulation contractor. I had to pay for his accident, and pay to have the ceiling repaired, despite the fact that he knew the ductwork was in the attic. I thought it was his own fault, but their insurance contractor didn’t, and last week, the heating and air conditioning specialist was at my house. I was looking out, just in time to see him fall to the ground. I was upset he had been bitten by something, or been harmed by the a/c unit. I called an ambulance and after that I went out to the heating and air conditioning specialist. He was coming around by the time I got outside. I told him to lie still and asked him if he was okay. He told me he had fainted, and he could barely breathe! From his pallor and the dripping with sweat, I knew he was having a heart attack. I knew it was wrong, but my first thought was if there was any way they could make this my fault. I could not afford for my insurance premium to go any higher.
