Residential HVAC has come miles and miles since we last replace HVAC equipment. With the house that we were selling, we stuck to just replacing the central air conditioning with the latest in residential HVAC and HVAC technology. We live in a region where residential HVAC is so important to getting the best price on a home sale. But when meeting with the HVAC contractor, we started talking about the new heating and cooling equipment for our new home build project. That’s when we started researching the geothermal heat pump. My wife and I wanted to build a house at least once. And with the money we made off of our old house, we were able to do just that. Our overall focus was on reducing our footprint and living as sustainably as possible. So this house is much smaller but custom designed to fit our needs. But the initial cost outlay of the geo heat pump was hanging me up. Now that I’ve spent the most comfortable winter ever thanks to radiant floor heating, I know the geothermal heat pump was the right call. I was stunned by just how toasty warm we were this winter thanks to the geo heat pump. It’s remarkable just what the radiant floor heating can do. And it does all this heating for a fraction of the heating costs we were paying in our previous house.
