Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures.
I’d like to believe that this wasn’t the case, but we’ve reached that moment in time.
You see, for the past 5 months I’ve been trapped indoors with my family. They have been driving me insane for at least the past 4.5 months of this ordeal. Unfortunately, there’s no real end in sight when it comes to ending our quarantine or getting everyone out of the house again. It seems like we might be stuck with this setup for another year. And there was no way I could stand another moment of that. Things started getting difficult when the outdoor air started getting hot and humid. As the summer season set in, our outdoor climate needed a serious overhaul. The indoor air quality was brutally hot and humid all the time. The kids never stopped complaining about the central HVAC settings or thermostat controls from the first day of summer onward. Of course, they couldn’t go abuse a public HVAC system by going to the movies or Starbucks. Instead, they just wanted me to adjust the central HVAC settings moment by moment to compensate for all of their air temperature preferences. I desperately tried to keep everyone happy… for a while. And then I saw what our energy bills looked like after all that HVAC manipulation. In the end, I went online and bought 3 brand new mini split ductless heating and cooling systems. Each kid now has their own HVAC unit. They can adjust the temperature however they want, so long as they leave me alone.
