This dog is so hairy

For the past ten years I swore that I would never have a light haired dog.

I have been completely adverse to the idea of getting a large hairy beast who would be shedding fur all over my house… let alone white fur that would clash with all the black clothing I wear.

Obviously, it was wisest to invest in an animal who would match my wardrobe and indoor decor. Well, your heart can’t be tamed by logic or reason, can it? Turns out, mine certainly can’t. The other week, I wound up adopting a brand new puppy… with a full coat of white fur. He’s clearly adding a lot to my life. However, he’s also adding a lot of fur to my indoor air quality and HVAC system. I first noticed that his fur was causing issues with the central heating and cooling system when the thermostat was struggling to control the AC unit as usual. It felt like the AC system wasn’t able to pump out the same amount of high quality indoor air as usual. I couldn’t figure out why there were hot and cold patches all over the house. It felt like my indoor air temperature was fluctuating wildly depending on which room I entered and which air vent I stood next to. I eventually called out my local HVAC technician and asked for help with my failing heating and cooling system. When he took a look at the air handling devices, he told me that they were doing okay… but my air filters and ductwork were taking a beating. When he handed me a handful of long, white hair I gasped. How had this puppy done so much air quality damage in only a few weeks?
