Schools can’t afford the HVAC systems

It’s absolutely ridiculous that anyone is considering sending our kids back to school before the virus is under control.

In my humble opinion, we are endangering everyone by forcing this issue too soon. I think we would be better served staying inside and waiting for the caseload to drop before we try to make our children go study alongside their friends. Of course, it doesn’t help matters that our schools are already so massively underfunded to begin with. We barely have money for basic school supplies in our district, let alone the air decontamination procedures that are necessary. In order for a public indoor space to be safe, we need to increase our indoor air quality significantly. These kids can’t rely on anything less than several indoor air purification systems. We have to update the central HVAC system to include more than rudimentary commercial AC and furnaces. In fact, there need to be designated air purification plans to provide an additional level of indoor air quality and safety. I know for certain that we can’t afford to update the school’s entire HVAC system. At best, we might be able to install some advanced HEPA air filters into the existing HVAC devices. At worst, we can’t even afford to have the central AC system running, as it is. If that AC unit ever breaks down, it would require a massive donation from the local HVAC repair shop to get it up and running again. You tell me, does that sound like safe indoor air conditions for our children?
