My next career is teaching HVAC techs

I never thought that I would still be working at this age.

Honestly, I expected to be done with my professional career right after I turned 55.

I had saved and prepared for that moment for my entire life. However, when the day rolled around and I left my daily position as an HVAC repair technician, I realized that I was miserable. I was dreading my last day at the HVAC repair shop. I didn’t enjoy my going away party from the other HVAC workers and my old boss. I wasn’t looking forward to having days full of… nothing. I actually started to panic at the thought of losing my daily work as a professional air handling technician. Sure enough, retirement was awful. After I serviced our central HVAC system and offered my services to everyone in the neighborhood for free, I had no idea what to do with all my time. Thank god, that’s when I got a call from the local trade school. Out of the blue, I was contacted by the director of the HVAC repair and maintenance program that they offered at the technical school. Apparently, they had just lost their top HVAC repair professor and they immediately needed someone to step in to teach the class about heating and cooling system repair services. The next thing I knew, I was signing on as a professor at the local trade school. These days, I report to the HVAC repair course every single day. I teach the kids how to approach heating and cooling device troubleshooting and repair services. I’m glad that I can serve a new purpose in the HVAC industry, and these kids won’t be total idiots after taking my course.
