We are for sure breathing easier in our home. For one, we don’t have to worry about the heat pump dying and leaving us without air conditioning. When you live this far south, the last thing you want is coming home to zero air conditioning. We actually lucked out by getting through last Summer with our old heat pump. That heat pump was part of the package when we bought this house some dozen or so years ago. It was decent enough heating and cooling equipment but it was also not exactly the latest in residential HVAC either. But due to the as is condition we agreed to take the house in, we decided to see what we could get out of that HVAC unit. Surprisingly we made it this far. Of course, making sure it got proper HVAC maintenance twice a year was a big part of the deal. Still, I’m impressed it got through last Summer just fine. We had the HVAC company come out and do a complete upgrade of the residential HVAC last Fall. And with that, we got all the HVAC technology that we had wanted. This included going with a whole home air purification system as well. This is the sort of air purifier that sits inside the HVAC equipment and takes out all the indoor air contaminants. And I mean all of them. The UV light that is used by this sort of air purifier eliminates any and all indoor pollutant. From the pollen allergens to the animal dander and the bacteria causing odors, it’s all gone. And we are left with the very best indoor air quality we’ve ever enjoyed inside the central air conditioning of this house.
