Will the heat pump get to the finish line?

The suspense is actually killing me.

And it’s sort of stressful as well.

When you bet on a 28 year old heat pump to get through one more Summer, the outcome is certainly in doubt. But when you still make that bet after the HVAC technician told you not to, that’s where the stress comes in. The HVAC professional had told me during the heating maintenance that the heat pump was on its way out. Then again after the air conditioning tune up in April, the HVAC professional suggested replacing the heat pump. But that was just not the way I wanted to go. And there are some equally dumb reasons for that approach. The first and perhaps the dumbest is the fact that I didn’t have the money saved for new residential HVAC. For sure, I am aware of how long we’ve lived in this house. I mean, the kids are now almost grown as we only have one more in college. My wife and I did other renovations to the house and made upgrades. So how did I not consider starting to save for the new HVAC unit much, much earlier? Plus, I’m just loathe to get rid of anything that still has any life to it. The 22 year old truck in the driveway is a great example. So hear we are in mid July when it’s steaming outside. And I’m wondering each time the air conditioning comes on if it will be the last time. Like I said, the suspense is killing me. I’m doing my best to ease the load on the heat pump. But I still have the rest of this month and all of August and most of September to deal with. Yep, this is stressful and I should have just listened to the HVAC professional last Fall.
