Don’t touch the furnace.

The dispatcher couldn’t give me an exact time, but she told me it shouldn’t be much longer

Before going shopping last week, I told my husband not to touch the furnace. I was sure he wouldn’t listen, but I hoped he curbed his curiosity until I got home and could talk him out of touching the furnace. We had been having some problems with the furnace for the last several weeks. It was finally bad enough that I wanted to call the HVAC company and have them bring an HVAC technician to the house. I was sure I would be home in less than an hour, but I wasn’t considering the traffic at that time of day. I simply wanted to pick something up for supper, and the store was only a mile away from home. When I got home, the HVAC technician hadn’t arrived yet, and my husband was in the basement. He had several parts removed from the furnace, and I asked how he was going to put them back together. He reminded me he was good at jigsaw puzzles, and I reminded him he always gave up and went to bed while finished the puzzle. I wouldn’t put the furnace back together when he was tired of playing with it. He asked when the HVAC technician was going to arrive. I only knew he wouldn’t be later than 6PM. He told me he would move away from the furnace while I found out how much longer before the HVAC technician arrived. The dispatcher couldn’t give me an exact time, but she told me it shouldn’t be much longer. I told her if it was more than an hour, my husband was going to start fixing the furnace again. All I heard was, oh dear, and she called back five minutes later to tell me the HVAC technician was on his way..
