I didn’t want to retire, however the owners of the company wanted me to; I was given no choice, I could either bow out gracefully, or they would fire me anyway, then the concern was that I wasn’t ready to stop working yet.
It wasn’t about the currency so much as being about having something to do with our time.
I have worked for the same company for 30 years, & at this late phase of our life I don’t have undoubtedly much else. The teenagers have moved away, the spouse divorced me for a younger fellow, so our work as an Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C tech has become our whole life. I decided that it was time for a major change, so I picked a far-off tropical endpoint on a Caribbean island & I started looking for Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C jobs, but much to our surprise I found that in the tropical islands there is a strong need for certified Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C techs. Most of this work is for exclusive resorts & hotels, because large numbers of the local population don’t have air conditioning at all. air conditioner is mostly for the tourists, however because tourism is so lucrative, these locales are willing to pay top dollar for experienced help. In a couple of weeks I went from being depressed about retirement to being stoked about a new Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C position in a beautiful new locale! Although I have 30 years of Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C experience, I recognize that I can still work for another 15 or 20 years before I get too ancient to handle it.
