I was sad to drive by and see this little, locally owned restaurant go out of business.
This was a place that had tried to catch on prior to the pandemic. Once we were all cooped up inside the central air conditioning of our homes, it was take out time. This place actually thrived a bit when it came to having to adjust to take out rather than dining. Yet, once people got back to going out for dinner, this little restaurant was struggling again. I have a sinking feeling that I know what part of the problem was. Obviously, the food was good and priced reasonably. Otherwise, I don’t think that eating establishment would have made it through the pandemic. What really hurt them was the fact that dining in the restaurant was always uncomfortable. We live down south where air conditioning is a way of life for three quarters of the year at least. But even in the winter, that restaurant was hot and uncomfortable. The owners really needed to reach out to some HVAC professionals when it came to their heating and cooling. The commercial HVAC was completely overwhelmed in that place almost all of the time. I loved the food and the service was pretty good as well. But sitting there with no air conditioning was not appealing at all. So we tended to only get take out from that place. And once there were options for eating out again, we hardly even got take out at all. I hate that these folks weren’t able to make a go of it because of something as essential and basic as decent air conditioning.
