Nobody wants to be out of shape, fat and borderline actually unhealthy, and even a devoted slob like me was uncomfortable with the way I had let my health go over the years.
But I leaned into my appetites as a reward for all the hours I put in working inside the zone controlled Heating and A/C of the office.
And I just drifted deeper and deeper into being totally out of shape. But residing like that gets dangerous at some point. So about a year and half ago, I actually made my first commitment to getting healthy. Instead of going to the taco truck and eating 4 burritos at my desk for supper, I got out of the air conditioner and went for a walk. And when I came home, instead of plopping down in the recliner inside the central air conditioner of my home, I went for another walk. It was just these little swings that made such a giant difference. After a few weeks of this behavior I actually started to focus in on portion control and a healthier diet. That was pretty taxing as I prefer eating awful foods and drinking beer. But I guess the toughest section was the exercise. I have never been much of an athlete and I hate exercise. I tried the gym but that didn’t last even 2 weeks because I just didn’t go. So my wife created a beach current home gym in the basement to ensure that the people I was with and I both got our exercise. I even had the Heating and A/C supplier come out and install a ductless heat pump so we’re working out in air conditioner heaven.
