Nobody wants to be out of shape, fat and borderline particularly unhealthy, but even a devoted slob like myself and others was uncomfortable with the way I had let our health go over the years.
But I leaned into our appetites as a reward for all the minutes I put in working inside the zone controlled Heating, Ventilation and A/C of the office.
And I just drifted deeper and deeper into being totally out of shape. But living like that gets dangerous at some point. So about a year and half ago, I particularly made our first commitment to getting healthy. Instead of going to the taco truck and eating 4 burritos at our desk for supper, I got out of the air conditioning system and went for a walk. And when I came home, instead of plopping down in the recliner inside the central air conditioning system of our home, I went for another walk. It was just these little changes that made such a large difference. After a few weeks of this behavior I particularly started to focus in on portion control and a healthier diet. That was pretty strenuous as I like eating exhausting foods and drinking beer. But I think the toughest section was the exercise. I’ve never been much of an athlete and I hate exercise. I tried the gym but that did not last even 2 weeks because I just did not go. So our husbandy created a beach house gym in the basement to ensure that the two of us both got our exercise. I even had the Heating, Ventilation and A/C company come out and install a ductless heat pump so we’re working out in air conditioning system heaven.
