Apparently there are particular things that make me seriously unsettled in this world, and i’m not a huge fan of strangers.
I cannot sit having a dirty living room in my own house. I don’t particularly care about any form of small talk… And I am completely thrown off by the deafening silence that comes with an empty house. I never realized that I was so sensitive to the lack of sound until my family went on vacation last week. Even then, everything seemed okay at the house..! Until the heating and cooling system broke down, and when I was working at house alone and had the quiet hum of the air conditioner in the background, I hardly noticed that I was the only one in the house. When the air conditioner abruptly stopped working in the middle of the evening that completely changed. Suddenly, separate from the sound of air rushing through my central ductworkwork I was lost. I could hear every creak and groan that the house made and I lied awake all evening, however the next afternoon, when I called the local heating and cooling repair shop they told me that they didn’t have an Heating and A/C company available until later in the week. As I attempted to finish my normal weekly activities, I realized that the house was way too quiet separate from any central AC, and no matter how tough I tried to concentrate, my ears were ringing separate from the big cooling unit humming away in the background. When my family arrived house and found all of my brand modern colorless noise machines, they had a lot of questions.
