I’m proud to continue a tradition that our parents started when I was young; and for me, I grew up in a certainly nice condo with a fantastic central a/c and plenty of other fantastic stuff, but for our parents, they grew up genuinely poor. There were even times for both of them that they were not able to get current clothes or even enough to eat at times! Of course, they grew up inside homes that did not have residential heating and A/C. But they both made the best of their circumstances, got to college and finally came out with an education. That led to careers for both of them and a nice lifestyle as well. But our parents were consistently keenly aware of where they came from! And they certainly did put their currency where their mouth was. When it came to Christmas, they made sure they had a little envelope full of currency for all the service people in our lives. That was the milkman, the postman and even the heating and A/C specialist, and i don’t have a milkman anymore and my nice friend and I have a post office box. But I care about continuing the tradition of these currency envelopes at Christmas. I explained to him that I was just grateful for all his efforts year in and year out when it came to taking care of the heating and cooling unit in our home. This genuinely blew that guy’s mind.
