Acts of kindness – gave HVAC tech a lift

The other day I was out at the park on a long hike by myself.

It helps me to release my physical energy in order to calm down and have a productive day.

I went on a nice long run and was headed back to my vehicle when I thought I heard somebody yelling for my attention after me. I wasn’t totally sure, so I kept walking but slow down. Eventually, a woman caught up with me and asked in a breathless voice if she could possibly get a ride to the other side of the park. She was extremely sweaty and it was getting dark outside, so I understood that she was in need of a lift for safety. As a fellow woman, I instinctively gave her a ride instead of leaving her out in the wilderness. As we’re driving around, she happened to mention that she was a professional heating and cooling specialist in town. I was blown away! I always thought that HVAC technicians were necessarily men, because the air handling equipment was so heavy and difficult to relocate. She told me she was one of the only woman in the cooling industry in our town. I was proud to have met her, and ask for her business card. A few days later, my air conditioning system decided it was exhausted from a long run. The cooling system turned off and never turned back on again. Luckily, I knew exactly who to call. I pulled out my HVAC technician acquaintances business card and gave her a ring. She came out within the hour, quickly fixed my cooling system, and didn’t charge me for her ventilation services as a way to return the favor.
